ＩＰＯへの計画を前にしたテクノロジ大手各社との競争に面しているファイル共有クラウド・コンテント管理企業ボックス社は、シスコ・システムズ社より上級幹部を迎え取締役会を強化した。
パドマスリー・ウオリアはシスコのチーフ・テクノロジ・オフィサー兼チーフ・ストラテジ・オフィサーで、このたびボックスの９人目の取締役となる。彼女は他社取締役を兼務する唯一の取締役であり、残りの取締役はボックス社員かヴェンチャー・キャピタリストである。もっとも、非常勤取締役としてダナ・エヴァン（ヴェリサイン社の創業者兼チーフ・フィナンシャル・オフィサー）とゲーリイ・ライナー（ジェネラル・エレクトリックの元チーフ・インフォメーション・オフィサー）がいる。
ウオリアはボックスでエヴァンにつぐ２人目の女性取締役となる。エヴァンは現在ジャフコ・ヴェンチャーズのヴェンチャー・パートナーを務める。シリコン・ヴァレイの企業は近来、取締役会に女性が少なすぎることを批判されている。この調査結果は、１２月にフェンウィック＆ウエストＬＬＰがまとめたところでは、テクノロジ企業の取締役のうち９．１％が女性だったのに対し、Ｓ＆Ｐ５００企業では１９．９％が女性だった。
フェースブック（２０１２年最大のＩＰＯ）やツイッター（２０１３年最大のＩＰＯ）には新規株式公開時点では取締役に女性はいなかった。フェースブックはそれから２人の女性取締役、ツイッターは１人の女性取締役を加入させた。

Facing fierce competition from a number of tech giants ahead of a planned IPO, file-sharing and cloud content management company Box Inc. has bolstered its board with a top executive from Cisco Systems, Inc.

Padmasree Warrior, Cisco’s chief technology and strategy officer, becomes Box’s ninth director. She is the only board member who is currently an executive at another company―the others are either at Box or venture capitalists, though some of them are seasoned executives, such as Dana Evan, the founding chief financial officer of Verisign Inc., and Gary Reiner, a former General Electric information chief.

Warrior also is the second female director at Box, joining Evan, who is now a venture partner at Jafco Ventures. Silicon Valley companies have come under fire for having too few women on their boards―a study in December by Fenwick & West LLP reported that just 9.1% of directors are women at tech companies, compared with 19.9% at S&P 500 companies.

Neither Facebook, the biggest IPO of 2012, nor Twitter, the biggest tech IPO of 2013, had women on their boards at the time of their offerings. Facebook has since added two women, and Twitter, one.

Warrior joined Cisco in 2007 after serving as Motorola, Inc technology chief.
