ヤフーはビジネス・アプリ開発のトムフーラリーを1,600万ドル前後で買収する交渉に入っていることが事情に詳しい２人の人物により明らかになった。

リプマンは現在コメントを控えている。
ヤフーの計画ではアンカーの運営を維持するのか、サーヴィス終了とするのかは未定だという。ヤフーのスポースクウーマンはコメントの要請に応じなかった。
ヤフーは2012年7月、マリッサ・メイヤーがCEOになって以来20以上のスタートアップを買収してきた。大半はスタートアップを成長の初期に買収、アプリを終了し、エンジニアやデザイナーたちはヤフー向けモバイル・サーヴィスの開発に転じた。

YahooYHOO -3.32% is in talks to acquire business app developer Tomfoolery for about $16 million, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.

The discussions are at an advanced stage but the deal isn’t yet final, the people said

With the acquisition, the Internet portal would gain a team that includes Tomfoolery Chief Executive Kakul Srivastava, a seven-year veteran of Yahoo who helped manage photo-sharing site Flickr and left the company in 2011; and Sol Lipman, a former AOL vice president.

Srivastava and Lipman co-founded Tomfoolery in 2012 with the aim of building apps for the workplace that would help co-workers socialize and collaborate in the same way they do with friends on sites like FacebookFB -1.65%. Their first software program, Anchor, lets groups of colleagues share files and discuss work projects using simple apps for iPhones and Android.

Lipman declined to comment.

It couldn’t be determined whether Yahoo plans to keep Anchor operating or shut down the service. A spokeswoman for Yahoo didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Yahoo has acquired more than two dozen startups since Marissa Mayer became CEO in July 2012. Often, the company has bought startups early in their development, shut down their apps, and put their engineers and designers to work creating new mobile services for Yahoo.

Mayer has also shown a preference for acquiring and hiring people who previously worked at Yahoo, a group she calls “boomerangs.” About 10% of hires last year were boomerangs, Mayer said at a September event, and former Yahoo executives she has acquired include Jeff Bonforte, who now runs email and other communication products.

Tomfoolery has raised $1.7 million from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Morado Venture Partners.
