アップルの北アメリカ営業統括者が退社へ

アップルは北アメリカ営業統括のゼーン・ロウエが退社すると発表した。彼は２年前にユナイテッド・コンチネンタル・ホールディングズから同社に転籍した。
アップルによると、ダグ・ベックが、すでに責任者となっている日本と韓国の統括に加え北アメリカを担当するという。「ダグ・ベックは日本と韓国におけるアップルの事業拡張に大きな貢献をしました。彼の役割は北アメリカを新たに加えることとなります」とアップルのスポークスウーマンであるクリスティン・ヒューゲットは述べた。
ロウエの退社は、同社が水曜日に発表した幹部退社の二人目となる。もう一人は、アップルの世界通信部門統括のケーティ・コットンで、彼女は同社での１８年を経て今後は子供との時間を過ごすという。
現時点ではロウエがなぜ退社するのか、いつ異動が施行されるかは不明である。ロウエはコメントを要請するイーメールには返答しなかった。ヒューゲットはこの二つの点について返答していない。ロウエはコンチネンタル航空で１９年勤めた後２０１２年にアップルに加入した。２０１０年にユナイテッドと合併した後、彼は同社のCFOとなった。彼はアップル加入後は財務から離れ、大企業、学校、小売業大手、通信キャリアなどへの営業を率いてきた。

Apple said North American sales head Zane Rowe, recruited from United Continental Holdings two years ago, is leaving the company.

Apple said Doug Beck, who oversees sales in Japan and Korea, will add North America to his responsibilities.

“Doug Beck has done a great job helping to grow Apple’s business in Japan and Korea. His role is expanding to include North America sales as well,” said Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet.

Rowe’s departure was the second among senior executives disclosed on Wednesday. Earlier, Katie Cotton, Apple’s head of worldwide communications, said she was leaving the company after 18 years to spend more time with her children.

It was not immediately clear why Rowe is leaving or when the transition would take place. Rowe did not respond to an email seeking comment. Huguet declined to comment on either point.

Rowe joined Apple in 2012 after a 19-year career at Continental Airlines. When it merged with United in 2010, Rowe became the combined company’s CFO. He moved to a non-financial role at Apple, overseeing its sales to large enterprises, schools, retail outlets and carriers.

Apple does not break out sales for just North America, counting them as part of its Americas group, the company’s largest, accounting for roughly one-third of its sales. Sales in the region grew 9% in the year ended September 2013, outpacing growth in Europe but lagging that of Greater China and Japan.
