ユーチューブはテクノロジ統括者をグーグルから起用

ユーチューブは新しいテック隊長を迎えた。ヴェンカット・パンチャパカスンはこのたびヴィデオ・サイトであある同社のエンジニアリング統括者となった。パンチャパカスンは以前グーグル・アップス・グループでエンジニアリング統括を務めた。
彼は春より空席となっていた役職を満たす。ユーチューブでプロダクトおよびエンジニアリング担当幹部を務めたシシル・メーロトラが退社したためである。
パンチャパカスンはユーチューブのボスであるスーザン・ウォジシッキに直属する。ウォジシッキは２月に同社の代表となった。
ユーチューブはこの異動の事実を認めたが、それ以上のコメント要請には応じなかった。だが同社の異動がこの先数ヶ月にわたって続くと見てよさそうだ。というのもウォジシッキは世界最大のヴィデオ・サイトである同社を大きく変えようとしている。

YouTube has a new top techie: Venkat Panchapakesan is the video site’s new head of engineering.

Panchapakesan had previously headed up engineering at Google’s Apps group.He fillspart of ahole created this spring,when YouTube executive Shishir Mehrotra,who had overseen product and engineering, moved on. Panchapakesan will report to YouTube boss Susan Wojcicki,who took control of the site in February.

YouTube confirmed the move,but declined to comment further. Still,it’s reasonable to assume that we might see more of these in the coming months,as Wojcicki figures out what she wants to change at the world’s biggest video site.

Prior to joining Google in 2010,Panchapakesan had been an entrepreneur in residence at Greylock Partners,and before that he had spent more than a decade at Yahoo, eventually running itsaudience technology group.
